For years, hip hop dance was calling to me.
Day after day, I thought about trying out classes…throwing myself into that world…
But procrastination, excuses, and fear were all seemingly valid reasons not to do it. Truth be told, I was simply afraid to go in the direction of what I desired. (Can you relate?)
Two-and-a-half months ago, I finally started taking hip hop classes in Denver. I was instantly hooked. I wasn’t very good at it, but I f’ing LOVED it. Loved it so much, I decided NOT to move to L.A., but to stay in Denver to dance.
I began with two classes a week…then upped it to three…then four and counting. Exposed myself to as many different instructors and ‘flavors’ and styles as possible — all within the genre of hip hop.
Now I’m doing two classes a day sometimes. The journey has only just begun.
I wonder, “Why the hell didn’t I start doing this sooner?!? I LOVE this.” My only regret is that I didn’t start 10+ years ago when the desire to dance first started whispering in my ear.
Our time is limited. Don’t wait to start doing the thing that’s calling to you. Do it now! There is ZERO benefit in waiting.
Oh yeah…and here’s a vid of a fun routine we did last week. 🙂 I’m not even close to the best dancer out there, but I’m light-years ahead of where I was before I got started.
