n If You See a Flaw… | The Anti-Marketing Manifesto
Happy Wednesday, anti-marketer!

“If you see a flaw in another person, it’s your vision that needs correction.”

This is a quote from the book, The Four Spiritual Laws of Prosperity by Edwene Gaines. It jumped out at me this morning.

I used to be the queen of judging people. I could judge anyone and everyone, finding copious amounts of flaws in everything they did. In fact, I used to revel in judgments.

It got old, and I grew out of it. And now it’s almost like an abrasion, when I observe it in others.

“That person comes across as evil.”

“That person’s actions are dumb.”

“I’m dumb.”

On and on…

Humans love to judge themselves, and each other.

But really, judgment is a false “safety net” that protects the ego from real bonding and connection.

Finding flaws is the epitome of judging.

THAT SAID… no doubt, there’s a very educational component around highlighting errors, and correcting them.

The anti-marketer educates through this “contrast principle” — of highlighting right actions, compared to harmful actions.

Humanity still needs quite a bit of educating.

The challenge for the anti-marketer is to do this “educating” in a way that actually helps people, not tear them down.

(I admit, this has been a challenge for me personally.)

Growing up with three rowdy brothers, my style used to be, “Learn this goddamn shit now, m*therf*cker!” LOL… and while that “drill sergeant” style works for some people, it shuts others down and prevents them from learning a thing.

So in 2018, I and some of my clients are committing to exploring new forms of “educating” that don’t necessarily involve judging.

It will be challenging, but rewarding, for sure!

Talk soon,
