n Crafting Your Best at All Hours! | The Anti-Marketing Manifesto

Up at 5:30 am this morning, I was stoked to begin my day.

(People don’t realize what a miracle it is just to be alive… I do!)

Clocking in six hours of sleep, which is less than my usual, I told myself, “Today I’m going to act as if I got 7 hours of sleep.”

That’s my little way of tricking my body into being energized, and not falling victim to the word, “tired.”

I lost sleep because last night Dan and I celebrated our 4-year anniversary… and we stayed up late. We ate yummy, but bad-for-the-macros restaurant food. We reminisced about all the experiences we’ve had together.

Feels like we’ve known each other for longer… like 10 years.

Life is moving so fast that holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries are starting to blur together… how do you remember all the great moments when there are SO many of them strung together?!

Over time, one thing remains the same:

We grow together.

Never in my life did I wake up at 5:30 am. Not voluntarily anyway. Now this is my new normal. A conscious choice. That’s growth. I did that while I was with Dan.

For decades I tried to finish and publish a book… unsuccessfully. it never happened until I was with Dan… and I built the character to become someone who “publishes a book.”

I did a lot of bad, stupid shit in the early years of my business… burned bridges… took things personally… had meltdowns. All of that gradually got erased as I started building a life with this person who’s not perfect — but he’s perfect for me.

Some people bring the best out of us… as a function of us simply being near them.

And some people bring out the worst in us.

This can shift and change over time, as people out-grow each other!

It works both ways: we choose how we act around other people… Some people will always “trigger” us in certain ways, and unless we address that trigger, they’ll always have that power over us.

Life is a continual dance of putting yourself around the right people… avoiding the wrong ones… and discerning true motives. Especially in business.

Get to the point where you’re strong enough to be around anyone and not sell out on being your true self.

If you aren’t learning, reflecting, and growing DAILY, then WTH are you doing?!

After doing my morning process of reflection, I started my day… shipped out a bunch of free copies of my book “The Anti-Marketing Manifesto” to all the excited people who said “Yes, I’d love one!”

Got shit done.

Crafted my best self in the actions of today.

And now I’m preparing to work on my 2nd book, which is well under way.

(I also popped onto Amazon earlier and saw that they finally have the hardcover available again. Yay! Get yours here.)

In every moment you have a choice to be your best self or your worst self.

Who’s in charge?

Who’s doing the choosing?

All of your choices in the moment add up to a certain quality of your hours… days… weeks… months… years… and eventually a lifetime!

Choose well and leave your mark on this world… or else the world will leave its mark on you, while giving you “no choice.”
